Statement Regarding COVID-19
Dear Valued Clients, Friends, and Community,
We thank you for your continued trust in The Pet Spa at Barkley Square. Your loyalty, support, and understanding during this unfortunate time means the world to us. We pride ourselves on our impeccable quality of care for your furry loved ones, and we will not have anything come in the way of that. We are doing everything in our power to ensure that we can still take care of your pets in the safest way possible.
We are aware, and up to date on the latest Coronavirus (COVID-19) news, and want to inform you of the recent changes we will implement so as to keep the pets, clients, and staff as healthy as possible.
We ask that if you are experiencing any symptoms, whether or not you have traveled outside of the country, that you please cancel your appointment with The Pet Spa at Barkley Square. We do not want to put any pets, or humans at risk, and appreciate your cooperation at this time.
We are first and foremost changing our protocols in regards to pick-up, and drop-off of pets. We will be providing “Curb-side Service” for both arrivals, and departures of pets to The Pet Spa at Barkley Square. If you are a new Barkley Square client, we ask that you sign a service agreement online before your appointment. Upon your arrival, please call our office at (703) 237-3650 to inform us that you are outside. One of our staff will meet you at your car, take your pet from you, and bring them inside. This is to minimize your risk of unnecessarily exposing yourself to the virus. Once they have finished their grooming experience, we will call you to inform you of your pick-up time. If you arrive earlier than your scheduled pick-up time, please do not come into The Spa. Once again, will be providing curb-side service upon release of your furry friends.
If you must come into The Pet Spa at Barkley Square, we will have a Sanitation Station for clients who come into the Pet Spa. This includes: hand sanitizer, paper towels, and a trash can.
In regards to washing the pets, in the past, we have taken measures to do other treatments to the pets first, such as brushing their teeth, trimming nails, cleaning their ears, and more. We are now taking the dogs straight to the bath to be cleaned before we begin on their time at The Spa. We are doing this for the health, and well-being of your dogs, our staff, and those who come in contact with the dogs. There is evidence supporting that pets can be carriers of the virus. “It is possible that a person with COVID-19 could sneeze or otherwise contaminate their pet, and then another individual could touch that animal and contract the disease. Veterinary experts believe the risk for transmission would be low. However, animals living with sick individuals should be kept away from other people and animals (quarantined at home), just as people who live with sick individuals must avoid contact with others” (https://vetmed.illinois.edu/pet_column/coronavirus-pets/).
We clean the workspace before, during, and after the grooming takes place. This means, we sweep, spray, disinfect, and sanitize the area.
As this situation continues to evolve, we will be monitoring any, and all updates. Based on the information that is available at this time, in addition to our own standards and practices, we remain open for business. Our business hours for The Pet Spa at Barkley Square are as follows:
Tuesday - Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Saturday 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Sunday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
